Underwood blows away competition
Wednesday, May 9, 2012 – Carrie Underwood enjoyed the best selling release in the country this past week on the Billboard charts as "Blown Away" sold more than 267,000 units.
Underwood takes over the top spot from Jack White's "Blunderbuss," which fell to seventh. Lionel Richie's "Tuskegee" was sixth with 64,000 units sold, down 18 percent.
Underwood's fourth album made history today by debuting at number one 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart because she is only the second country artist in the 47-year history of the chart to have each of their first four albums debut on top. Underwood is also the second country artist in history to have three consecutive albums debut at number one.
"Blown Away" also led digital sales, with more than 107,000 copies sold, making "Blown Away" country's best-selling digital album debut since 2010.
