Carrie Underwood makes history with "Last Name"

Wednesday, June 11, 2008 – Carrie Underwood's "Last Name" this week becomes her seventh consecutive number one single to top the Mediabase country airplay charts. Underwood becomes the only artist in country chart history to have their first seven singles all reach number one.

From her double platinum current release, "Carnival Ride," "Last Name" is the album's third number one single - including "So Small" and "All-American Girl" - all of which were co-written by Underwood.

Underwood will perform this Saturday, June 14 on GAC's Opry Live (8 p.m. eastern), in a re-airing of last week's special, followed by an encore broadcast of the half-hour profile, Road to the Opry: Carrie Underwood. Underwood continues her headlining "Carnival Ride Tour" through the end of the year, with upcoming performances this week in Reading, Pa.; Huntington, West Va. and Greenville, S.C.

The string of great fortune turned sharply in 2017, when Underwood began the unfathomable experience of three consecutive lost pregnancies. This was atop a frightening fall at her home that ended with her face in nearly 50 stitches. Sharing these moments with her fans makes the beamingly-beautiful singer ...
