Cobb goes acoustic

Wednesday, May 27, 2026 – Brent Cobb is going acoustic on his upcoming album, "Live a Song, Write a Memory, Vol. 1", out June 5.

Produced by Cobb and recorded at Capricorn Studios in Macon, nearly every performance was captured live and in one take.

The disc includes songs from across Cobb's catalog, including selections from the Grammy-nominated "Shine on Rainy Day," "Providence Canyon" and "No Place Left to Leave" plus cuts made famous by other artists. The latter includes "Tailgate Blues" (recorded by Luke Bryan) and "Bar, Guitar and a Honky Tonk Crowd" (recorded by Whiskey Myers). The unreleased title track, "Live a Song, Write a Memory," rounds out the record.

"All I've ever wanted to do was keep my lights on and my babies fed," Cobb said. "I don't have to make a killin'. That's what this whole series is about."

More volumes are planned, according to Cobb.

The release follows his 2025 album "Ain't Rocked in a While," recorded with his band, The Fixin's. Throughout his career, Cobb has released five studio albums, toured alongside artists like Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs and The Red Clay Strays, and recently hosted the second annual South of Atlanta Fest in Macon. He has also earned his first number one country radio hit as a writer with Luke Combs' "Days Like These."

The track list is:
1. Live a Song, Write a Memory
2. Mill Creek (Story)
3. Bar, Guitar, and a Honky Tonk Crowd
4. Country Bound
5. Come Home Soon
6. If I Don't See Ya
7. Shine On Rainy Day
8. Tailgate Blue
9. Livin' It (Story)

CD review - And Now, Let's Turn To Page... Brent Cobb sounds like an old country gospel singer while doing his version of "Old Rugged Cross," backed by gospel quartet-sounding backing vocals. Many of these accompanying vocalists are family members, and gospel music is in Cobb's blood. Furthermore, Cobb has said it's "like a rite of passage country singers to make a gospel album." So, for Cobb, this album feels necessary. Although Cobb has always wanted to make a gospel album, a near-death auto accident was ...
CD review - Keep 'Em On They Toes Not sure we've seen the term 'minimalist country' but that's a fair description for Brent Cobb's artistry, especially on "Keep 'Em On They Toes," one that he prefers to call 'quiet and conversational.' His fourth album is certainly reflective as Cobb and his family moved back to his native Georgia a few years ago. The locale seems to suit him, and it's at the heart of these 10 songs where he chooses to write about his thoughts and feelings as ...
CD review - Shine on Rainy Day Brent Cobb is an unpretentious sort of guy, and that in itself makes him an unusual entity in an entertainment arena built on flash and sparkle. That at least is the attitude he purveys on "Shine on Rainy Day," an album that takes its cues from everyday aspirations. The songs center on the simpler things that affect us all, whether the solace of living life in the country or the everyday challenges that all too often take a toll. It's that ying and yang that that's most ...
