The Chicks are Taking the Long Way

Wednesday, May 27, 2026 – The Chicks will go on the road for their Taking the Long Way 20th Anniversary Tour in celebration of their studio album "Taking the Long Way."

Kicking off at the Fox Theatre in Detroit on Sept. 30, The Chicks will play theatres across the U.S., including stops in Chicago, New York City, Nashville, San Antonio, Austin, Seattle and San Francisco, before wrapping with two nights in Hollywood, CA at Dolby Theatre on Nov. 1 and 2.

Tickets go on sale via an artist presale beginning on Wednesday, June 3 at 10 a.m. local time. The general on sale begins on Thursday, June 4 at 10 a.m. local time on Thechicks.com/tour.

To participate in presale, sign up is required by Sunday, May 31 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time.

The 'Taking the Long Way Tour' will commemorate two decades of the album that topped the Billboard 200 chart and earned The Chicks five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year. The lead single was "Not Ready to Make Nice," a dig at then President George W. Bush. The Chicks had spoke against the president during a concert in London, resulting in a lot of flak for the trio including protesters burning their records.

The Chicks — Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer released their fifth studio album, "Gaslighter," in July 2020 via Columbia Records after a 14-year hiatus.

The Dixie Chicks certainly enjoyed their most controversial year ever thanks to a few words uttered by lead singer Natalie Maines, and they also had one of the most successful tours of 2003 as well. This 22-song live disc recorded somewhere during the U.S. part of the tour is clear indication that beyond the headlines, there was a tremendous amount of quality music going on.
