Carrie Underwood starts tour strongly

– Carrie Underwood launched her headline tour, the "Carnival Ride Tour," on Feb. 18 and enjoyed sell-outs on the first week of shows. Underwood and special guest Josh Turner performed for more than 40,000 fans.
The "Carnival Ride Tour" coincides with Underwood's co-headline dates with Keith Urban on the "Love, Pain & the whole crazy Carnival Ride Tour," which kicked off Jan. 31.
The tour started in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Albany, N.Y. and Amherst, Mass. Between the Pittsburgh concert on Feb. 22 and the Providence concert on Feb.24, Underwood and her band headed to New York City to perform on "Saturday Night Live" for their first live show since the writer's strike.
The tour has since gone to Bridgeport, Conn. and headed south to Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Carrie Underwood's gospel music album may not be traditional in the sense that she sings these songs the same way she heard them as a child growing up. However, on the traditional/modern country music spectrum, this album leans closer to traditional country music than just about anything Underwood's recorded.
