Nelson's Beck cover is no "Lost Cause"

Friday, October 25, 2024 – Wille Nelson released the third track – "Lost Cause" - from his upcoming studio album, "Last Leaf on the Tree. "

The album was produced by his son, Micah, and finds Nelson covering a collection of songs by rock legends, singer songwriters, alt-rockers, and indie folk artists, as well as a new recording of his 1967 song, "The Ghost," and a new composition by Willie and Micah Nelson.

Taken from Beck's 2002 album "Sea Change," the song was one of several Beck tunes they considered. "This one's really like a country song in a way," Micah said. "It's this relationship gone south and just reconciling with all that. It's a very clear narrative country song, but it's kind of psychedelic, too."

Beck said,"Willie's songs have been my companions for most of my life. I've been lucky to get to hang out and sing with him on several occasions over the years," adding, "There's no one like him in music, and it's the greatest honor to have him record this song."

CD review - Oh What a Beautiful World For his 77th solo album, Willie Nelson continues his habit of focusing on a single songwriter. This time around, it's Rodney Crowell, whose material Nelson first tackled way back in 1983. Four decades later, the pairing produces a heartwarming, heartfelt set of tunes from throughout Crowell's catalog. At this point, not much surprising happens on a Willie album. His band is solid and dependable, adapting to Nelson's vocal idiosyncrasies in sympathetic arrangements, massaged by ...
CD review - The Border Willie Nelson has released more than 150 albums in his career, including four in the past two years. All this while approaching and surpassing the age of 90. Of all his many solo recordings, "The Border" ranks as one of his best. The songs are fresh, sincere, and full of energy and have many of the elements that fans expect from Ol' Willie - his unmistakable vocals, the trademark lead guitar work on his iconic axe, Trigger, and harmonica support from his 50-plus year bandmate, Mickey Raphael. ...
