Marks enjoys "One More Night"
"I met Tré Burt for the first time when we were both performing at a John Prine Tribute in Nashville," Marks said. "I got a chance to hear him perform and loved it. I went down the rabbit hole of his music and found that his voice harkens back to roots music which is what 'One More Night' is about - preserving the sound and spirit of the old blues singers, Muscle Shoals and more."
The release follows Marks' "Water To Wine" which features Melissa Carper.
Marks, who blends Americana, blues, southern rock, also released "Jubilee," which featured the Fisk Jubilee Singers. All will appear on a deluxe LP Marks will release this year.
After graduating from Grambling State University, she'd planned on becoming a criminal defense attorney, but her law degree was put on hold after she married young and gave birth to a son. After some encouragement from her husband, she began to sing again and released two country albums–"Freeway Bound" in 2005 and "It Feels Good" in 2007.
After over a decade-long hiatus, Marks recorded a few songs with bandmates Justin Phipps and Steve Wyreman, a collection of songs that became "Our Country, "released on Phipps' small non-profit record label, Redtone Records. An EP of covers , "Race Records," soon followed.
Her latest LP was "Feel Like Going Home" from 2022.
Marks will kick off the 43-date Trailblazing Women Of Country Tour on Tuesday and is set to perform at the Stagecoach Festival in April. Last Friday, she played the Grand Ole Opry stage to perform "One More Night" with Burt as her special guest.
