Carrie Underwood achieves milestones
Friday, February 1, 2008 – Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" became the first country song to earn RIAA certification as a double platinum Digital Single (recognizing two million purchased downloads), her label announced Friday. Underwood' debut, "Jesus, Take the Wheel," earned platinum digital single certification.
"Before He Cheats" received multiple nominations for the upcoming 50th Annual Grammy Awards, including Best Country Song and Song of the Year (for writers Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins). Underwood, last year's Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance winner, is nominated in the latter category for "Before He Cheats," as well as Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for "Oh Love" with Brad Paisley (from Paisley's album, 5th Gear.)
Underwood will perform on the Grammy awards telecast, airing live on Sunday, Feb. 10.
"Before He Cheats" and "Jesus, Take the Wheel" are from Underwood's six-times platinum "Some Hearts" CD.
