Underwood unveils "Denim & Rhinestones"

Friday, April 8, 2022 – Carrie Underwood announced today she would release her new album, "Denim & Rhinestones," on June 10.

The upcoming album is the follow-up to "My Gift," a Christmas album, and "My Savoir," a gospel album.

The title track was released as the first single was written by Underwood, David Garcia, Josh Kear and Hillary Lindsey, and co-produced by Garcia and Underwood.

Underwood previously has recorded songs from Garcia ("Southbound" and "Drinking Alone") and Lindsey ("Jesuss, Take the Wheel," "So Small," "Church Bells," "Cry Pretty" and "Last Name"). Kear helped write "Before He Cheats" and "Blown Away," and co-wrote "Two Black Cadillacs" with Underwood and Lindsey.

Underwood co-wrote 11 of the 12 tracks on the album. HARDY, who has done well as a writer and artist, and Lydia Vaughan co-wrote "If I Didn't Love You," Underwood's hit with Jason Aldean.

"We cover a lot of ground on this album," Underwood said. "We have a lot of songs that have a bit of a 'throwback' feel, but they sound super fresh. I grew up listening to so many different kinds of music, and that is extremely evident in this body of work. These are musical influences that are all in me and work their way out, and I just decided this time not to get in their way. I think this whole album ended up being a big reflection of me as a person and as an artist."

"After spending over two years with 'My Gift' and 'My Savior,' which were such passion projects and so close to my heart, putting together 'Reflection: The Las Vegas Residency' was really the catalyst for this album. I was just ready to have fun and to write songs that make me happy to listen to and happy to sing."

Underwood won her eighth Grammy on Sunday for Best Roots Gospel Album for "My Savior.

CD reviews for Carrie Underwood

CD review - My Savior Carrie Underwood's gospel music album may not be traditional in the sense that she sings these songs the same way she heard them as a child growing up. However, on the traditional/modern country music spectrum, this album leans closer to traditional country music than just about anything Underwood's recorded. Underwood always sings well, no matter how her songs are arranged, but it's a true treat to hear that voice without much of the big production that usually accompanies it. ...
CD review - My Gift It makes logical sense that Carrie Underwood, arguably mainstream country music's best pure vocalist, would make a Christmas album. And make no mistake about it, this is a 'Christmas' album, as opposed to a 'holiday' release. These 11 tracks are nearly all spiritual in nature. Therefore, you won't hear about Santa, reindeer or even toys under the tree. The only truly secular track is "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," which is not – by a long ...
CD review - Cry Pretty Carrie Underwood's life was reading straight from the storybooks: one of the few American Idol Winners with ongoing success; a professional athlete for a husband; a beautiful baby boy. The string of great fortune turned sharply in 2017, when Underwood began the unfathomable experience of three consecutive lost pregnancies. This was atop a frightening fall at her home that ended with her face in nearly 50 stitches. Sharing these moments with her fans makes the beamingly-beautiful singer ...
