Brooks plays Biden inauguration
Tuesday, January 19, 2021
– Garth Brooks will play at President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration on Wednesday.
Brooks will join Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez, who also are performing.
"This is not a political statement, this is statement of unity," Brooks said on Monday. "This is kind of how I get to serve this country."
"I've played for every president there is, since Carter, with the exception of Reagan. This is an honor for me to get to serve...and it's one of the things that, if my family is around, no matter who the president-elect is, it's an honor to be asked."
Brooks said he would not play "We Shall Be Free," which he played at the inauguration of President Barack Obama.
He was asked to play at the inauguration of outgoing President Donald Trump, but did not because he was playing multiple shows that weekend in Cincinnati, Ohio. He did play for President Trump on other occasions during his presidency.

Since then, he has released repackaged hit collections, new music on "Scarecrow" and "The Lost Sessions" and last year's cover song collection "Blame it All on My Roots." Over the years, there have been live recordings, concert and music video collections. The country songwriter became a pop culture icon, transcending genre to become ...
Garth Brooks is back with his first release of "new" material since 2001's "Scarecrow." (Truth in advertising, his "The Ultimate Hits," which actually is part of the new box set, included four new songs back in 2007). And it's quite an undertaking - four CDs of covers - Country Classics, Classic Rock, Blue-Eyed Soul and Melting Pot, an amalgam of country, rock, soul and folk; the two-CD set, "The Ultimate Set" and a DVD of his live performance in Vegas. ...
