Shoot From The Heart (Immi, 2006)
Con Hunley
Reviewed by George Hauenstein
Though he's been under the radar for a while, he remains a top-notch singer. Few in Nashville these days pack as much soul into a song as Hunley. Paired with producer Norro Wilson, he has tapped some great writers for material, including Kris Kristofferson, Larry Shell and Dean Dillon.
Top songs include wonderful renditions of Hoagy Carmichael's "Georgia On My Mind," Kristofferson's "Why Me, Lord", "I Can See You With My Eyes Closed" and a great country ballad, "Deep In The Arms Of Texas."
Hunley offers a few "Words From Con," in which he introduces the final two tracks on the record, a nice, personal touch.
Con Hunley continues to make good music. This album is proof. Fans may have to go the extra mile to find it, but they will be rewarded in the end.
