Live Recordings from the Louisiana Hayride (Scena, 2003)

June Carter Cash

Reviewed by Tom Netherland

June Carter features performances from June 4, 1960 through to a pair of duets with her future husband, Johnny Cash, from Nov. 27, 1965 at the Louisiana Hayride. Carter was long overlooked after she married Cash in 1968. Yet with her fitting companion to the Cash release, we are given a wide glimpse into Carter's calling card. She was an all-around entertainer. As country as a corncob whose dignity goes unchallenged, she was a very funny lady who could sing fine, too.

Big kudos to whoever is responsible for saving these recordings for all these years.
