More bad news on the marital front

Jeffrey Remz  |  August 7, 2015

It's tough being a country music star these days.

Today, Jake Owen announced via Twitter that he was splitting from his wife of three years.

Earlier this week, the word went out that Reba McEntire was separating from Narvel Blackstock, who runs her management company.

And, of course, we all know about the recent break-up of the Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert marriage.

Yet again, it only goes to reinforce the difficulty of being in a tough industry (it's hard enough even if you have a great marriage). The artists often are apart for long stretches, and there's always the proverbial conflict should there even be one?) of managing your career and your marriage.

There is no silver bullet, of course, for Shelton, Lambert, McEntire, Owen or anyone else.

What makes it even more difficult for the singers is that they're so much in the public spotlight. Of course, in country music, the fans seem to know all about your personal life in a way that doesn't exist in other musical genres (for the most part).

As it turns out, Owen went public about his marital issues in a story published in July.

Continued condolences to those who have dealing with such difficult times.
