Eric Church tours hard, again

Tuesday, January 5, 2010 – Hard touring Eric Church hits the road again next month launching the Jagermeister Country Tour.

The tour kicks off Feb. 9 at the Ram's Head in Baltimore and ends March 27 in Boulder, Col. at the Boulder Theatre. Josh Thompson opens all shows.

Church last toured on the Young & Wild Tour, which included 50 shows and performances on NBC's "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon," CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Eric Church is a mainstream country artist being marketed as a modern outlaw. His music does owe more to Southern rock bands like Lynyrd Skynrd than pop, but it is still radio friendly country music. However, this shouldn't be held against him. His first two albums had a number of great songs, and "Chief" builds on that success, while adding a heavy dose of experimentation. At times, he stretches his trademark sound by bringing in obvious outside influences. »»»

"Wilderness" is another twisted menagerie of The Handsome Family songs. Once again, husband Brett Sparks sings their songs, sometimes in a bellowing gravedigger voice, after adding music to wife Rennie's lyrics. This time out, each and every tune is named after an animal, insect or other such nature creature. Dark Dirty Mile
