Carolwood Records closes
Tuesday, November 3, 2009 – Carolwood Records was short-lived. Started last year as a Disney subsidiary and sister label of Lyric Street Records, the Nashville-based label was shuttered.
"I am very optimistic that this newly organized, aggregated team will bring new focus and energy to our entire staff and roster and thus have great expectations that they will be the catalyst for resetting us towards better serving our artists and radio partners while achieving our cost goals," said label President Randy Goodman in a prepared statement.
Trent Tomlinson and Love And Theft both shifted from Carolwood to Lyric Street, also the home of Rascal Flatts, Sarah Buxton and Bucky Covington.
Three staffers lost their positions in the decision to close the label.

Country Is My Rock
Trent Tomlinson is a veteran Nashville songwriter, having endured a number of publishing deals before landing a record contract. These songs reflect that - they're clever and crafted, but sometimes empty.
He starts with an anthem of sorts, "Country is My Rock," declaring his allegiance to Hank, Hag and screaming guitars. It's fair warning of what's to come: many more screaming guitars.
