McGraw announces 2010 Southern Voice tour
Thursday, October 22, 2009 – Tim McGraw announced Thursday he will kick off the Southern Voice Tour in February with dates into the summer. Lady Antebellum will open the shows.
The Lost Trailers will open shows from Feb. 11-Apil 10 while Love And Theft will open from April 11 - Aug. 15.
McGraw released "Southern Voice" on Tuesday, his first album of new material since "Let It Go" in April 2007. As usual, his backing band, the Dancehall Doctors, were the musicians on the disc.
The tour starts at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb, on Feb. 11, 2010 and ends at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Virginia Beach, Va. on Aug. 15.
"I'm real excited to have this opportunity to hit the road next year with the 'Southern Voice' tour and look forward to playing new songs and old favorites for all my fans," said McGraw, who will perform tomorrow morning on Today as part of the Toyota Concert Series on Rockefeller Plaza. On October 27th he'll appear on The Jay Leno Show where McGraw will be joined by Gregg Allman for a rendition of Southern Voice. McGraw will close out the week with an Oct. 29 performance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. On Nov.13, CMT will premiere "INVITATION ONLY: TIM MCGRAW," a one-hour special featuring McGraw performing before a small studio audience and taking questions from fans.
Tickets for some markets go on sale Nov. 6 through LiveNation.

Southern Voice
Tim McGraw knows what works for him on a bunch of songs tending to look at the human soul and the choices one makes in life.
The sadness of Good Girls comes through loud and clear in a tail of friendship gone deadly wrong. McGraw gets ultra-introspective on If I Died Today. On the one hand, it's morbid, of course, but on the other, McGraw challenges the listener to consider how they live their lives and want to be remembered.

Let It Go
Tim McGraw's massive hit, "Live Like You Were Dying," is both a blessing and a curse. Although it is a tear-jerker nearly impossible to dislike, every ballad he records from now on will be compared to it - and likely pale in that comparison. Nothing here comes anywhere close to the emotional tug of "Live like You Were Dying." In fact, there aren't many "big moment" ballads at all.
But what it lacks in large showstoppers, it more than makes up for with small pleasures. »»» |
