Bates ties knot

Wednesday, May 6, 2015 – What started as a songwriting session for Greg Bates ended in marriage over the weekend.

Bates, who had a hit single himself with "Did It For the Girl," met fellow singer-songwriter Shelley Skidmore, two years ago at a songwriting sessioin.

On Saturday, the two tied the knot. After a Valentine's Day 2014 engagement, the couple chose to wed in the bride's hometown of Stanton, Ky.

Skidmore's songs "Done Runnin'" and "I've Got You And You've Got Me" have been aired on ABC's primetime series "Nashville."
