Thursday, June 28, 2007 – Montgomery Gentry and Brad Paisley top the Billboard country song and album charts for the week ending July 7 with "Lucky Man" and "5th Gear" respectively.
Paisley topped the country album chart with his best selling album for the first week out with 193,000 units moved. Toby Keith, last week's number 1 with "Big Dog Daddy," was second, with a drop in sales to 73,000, a 64-percent sales drop.
"Lucky Man" became the number one single at the expense of Paisley's "Ticks," which fell to fifth. George Strait is up two to second with "Wrapped," and Big & Rich's "Lost In This Moment" is up three to sixth. Tracy Lawrence's former number one, "Find Out who Your Friends Are" was fourth, down two.
Kenny Chesney's fast rising "Never Wanted Nothing More" bounded up to ninth, up four in only its fourth week out. Reba McEntire 's duet With Kelly Clarkson "Because Of You," was up 4 to 17th. Sugarland's "Everyday America" was a big mover, up 5 to 20th, while Tim McGraw's "If You're Reading This," made into the top 25, up 4.
On the album chart, Taylor Swift's self-titled debut was up one to third, while Big & Rich was down two to fourth with "Between Raising Hell And Amazing Grace." Carrie Underwood's "Some Hearts" was down two to fifth.
Bon Jovi's "Lost Highway" debuted at number 1 as the best selling CD in the U.S. the disc is considered country-influenced by the label, but is not on the country chart.
On the overall top 200 chart, Paisley was 3rd, Keith 4th, Swift 18th, Big & Rich 19th and Underwood 21st.
