Hall of famer Preston dies at 83

Wednesday, June 13, 2012 – Country Music Hall of Fame member Frances Preston died this morning at 83 from congestive heart failure.

She was the former BMI President/CEO. Preston spent the bulk of her six-decade career at song publisher BMI, leading the Nashville operation before heading the organization from 1986-2004.

Preston joined the hall of fame in 1992. Some credited her with the phrase, "It all begins with a song."

Editorial: Walking the talk – When names like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Waylon and the Hag are invoked, you're talking hard core country. These are the touchstones of country , the guys who made country music what it was and still is (or maybe can be).
