Carrie Underwood, Vince Gill, Rodney Atkins, Craig Morgan hit the diamond
Friday, April 27, 2007 – Carrie Underwood, Vince Gill, Craig Morgan and Rodney Atkins are stepping up to the plate for the 17th Annual City of Hope Celebrity Softball Challenge in June in a charity event.
Arch rival teams Grand Ole Opry Live and Blair Garner's After MidNite return for an afternoon of pranks, fun and softball June 7 in Nashville. The event raises money for City of Hope, a research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases. The complete all-star line up will be announced soon.
Pete Fisher, Vice President/General Manager, Grand Ole Opry said: "All of us on the 'Grand Ole Opry Live' team are looking forward to helping raise funds for City of Hope while also casting further shame on Blair and his cast of 'After MidNite' characters by handing them a third straight loss."
Garner, creator of 'After MidNite with Blair Garner,' retorted, "Without the aid of Scooter Libby this year and all that illegal money that went under the table, I really doubt that the 'Grand Ole Opry Live' team will stand a chance. Who knew that Little Jimmy Dickens would be involved in such dealings. The After MidNite team will most definitely win this year. Or at least that's what I was assured of when I wrote out that $10,000 check."

After all, she's of diva-quality voice, petite, non-controversial unless you call singing songs that empower women controversial. Adkins, on the other hand, has not been afraid to speak his mind with a kick butt attitude.... »»»
Concert Review: Eilen Jewell wears her musical hats well –
Eilen Jewell wears a lot of musical hats. The Idaho native, who now lives in Boston, fronts the Eilen (ee-lin) Jewell Band, a pretty much traditional country band. She's a member the Sacred Shakers, an octet doing gospel country with a country beat. And she has yet another project, Butcher Holler, covering Loretta Lynn songs.... »»»

Blue Highway's banjo player Jason Burleson acknowledges that their 1995 debut album "It's A Long, Long Road" turned out to be prophetic. It has been quite a journey for the Tennessee-based band that has become one of the "gold standards" of bluegrass, with 8 more "signpost" albums along the way, the latest being their newly-released 15th Anniversary collection on Rounder, "Some Day."... »»»
