Brooks & Dunn, Reba visit Dave
Thursday, May 13, 2010 – Brooks & Dunn and Reba McEntire will perform a special duet on the Late Show With David Letterman on Friday, May 21 on CBS. The duo will perform one of their classics, Cowgirls Don't Cry, with McEntire.
The performance with McEntire comes just days before the premiere of the all-star tribute concert special, "ACM Presents: Brooks & Dunn - The Last Rodeo," which will be broadcast on CBS, Sunday, May 23, 8-10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific. The evening will feature performers such as McEntire, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill, Jennifer Hudson, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Darius Rucker, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban froim a concert in Las Vegas in mid-April.
In 2009, Brooks & Dunn, the best selling duo in country music history, announced that they would part as a duo this year and will embark this summer on a farewell tour, "The Last Rodeo."

Brooks & Dunn are the most popular duo in country history racking up lots of hits and awards, but they amicably called it a career with plans to go their separate ways after a farewell 2010 tour. This two-CD set contains 30 songs, but aside from 2 new songs, there's not much reason to buy this set. The quality certainly is there as 20 of the songs reached the top of the chart.

Cowboy Town
If your idea of a cowboy is Cowboy Troy and the guys from Big & Rich, then sure, this new Brooks & Dunn album is named appropriately. For it's the city-bred hat crowd that the majority of these songs are aimed at or at least the women that married them. Their last couple of albums saw them gain some critical acclaim with songs like the stirring "Believe," but there's nothing that immediately memorable here. Hillbilly Deluxe
If Brooks & Dunn thought they were on the right track with the album "Red Dirt Road," then they are absolutely sure of it on the new "Hillbilly Deluxe." This is a collection of songs that topically are about living high, wide and handsome ("One More Roll of the Dice") and then accepting the downside of that lifestyle "(Whiskey Do My Talkin'"). But it is also about higher powers ("I Believe") and higher purpose ("My Heart's Not a Hotel.").

Once again, husband Brett Sparks sings their songs, sometimes in a bellowing gravedigger voice, after adding music to wife Rennie's lyrics. This time out, each and every tune is named after an animal, insect or other such nature creature. However, Rennie studies animals the way Flannery O'Connor wrote about humans, which is with the weirdness and character flaws in primary focus. »»» |

George Strait may have reached his seventh decade, but he shows zero signs of slowing down. In fact, Strait seems to be getting even more consistent as he gets older.
