Thursday, February 15, 2007 – The stranglehold on the top of the Billboard country song and album charts changed this week with new numbers one in both categories for the week ending Feb. 24. George Strait scored his 54th number 1 hit on the song chart with "It Just Comes Natural," while newcomer Jason Michael Carroll's debut, "Waitin' in the Country," topped the album charts taking over for "Totally Country 6," which fell to sixth. Carroll was eighth on the overall top 200.
Strait displaced Rodney Atkins' "Watching You," which slipped to second. Trace Adkins' "Ladies Love Country Boys" was up one to third, while Keith Urban's "Stupid Boy" was up two to fourth. "She's Everything" by Brad Paisley slipped two spots to fifth. Carroll's hit single "Alyssa Lies" climbed two spots to sixth.
Rascal Flatts' "Stand" was a big mover going up 8 places to 14th. Jack Ingram took a remake of Hinder's rock hit "Lips Of An Angel" to 19th up 4, while Alan Jackson was up 4 to 20th with "A Woman's Love." Clay Walker, who hasn't heard from for awhile on the charts, was up 4 to 21st with "'Fore She Was Mama."
Toby Keith had a huge week as his new single, "High Maintenance Woman" was up 15 spots to 22nd.
On the album chart, Carrie Underwood's "Some Hearts" was up one to third, trading places with Rascal Flatts' "Me and My Gang." Atkins remained fourth with "If You're Going Through Hell." Urban stayed fifth with "Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing."
The biggest mover was the Dixie Chicks, whose "Taking the Long Way" skyrocketed from 24 to 11, a result of their great night at the Grammys where they took 5 awards.
On the overall top 200 album chart, Underwood was 19th, Rascal Flatts 21st, Atkins 35th and Urban 36th.
