Movie soundtrack, Blue Highway offer new CDs

Tuesday, January 19, 2010 – A soundtrack to a well-received movie and an anniversary collection with new tracks from a stellar bluegrass band are the key releases today.

Crazy Heart," the movie starring Jeff Bridges as a down-and-out country singer, has a soundtrack produced by T Bone Burnett, the brains behind the "O Brother" soundtrack. Bridges sings 6 of the 16 songs. Ryan Bingham, the New Mexico- rootsy singer, sings the theme song in the movie, The Weary Kind.

Blue Highway has been around for 15 years and commemorates as much with "Some Day: The Fifteenth Anniversary Collection." The set also contains 3 new songs. The quintet still consists of Tim Stafford (guitar), Wayne Taylor (bass), Shawn Lane (mandolin), Rob Ickes (Dobro) and Jason Burleson (banjo).

"I didn't have that big a family," McKenna joked,... »»»

Taylor uncovers the past, offering new perspectives Suffice it to say that the past has always loomed large throughout Chip Taylor's career. That's all the more obvious if only for the fact that Taylor wrote some of the biggest pop hits of the '60s, "Wild Thing"... »»»
