CMAs: Lady A takes vocal group
Wednesday, November 11, 2009 – Lady Antebellum took home vocal group of the year, their second award of the night at the 43rd annual Country Music Association awards Wednesday..
"We just feel so thankful," said Hillary Scott, before thanking the veterans.
"You guys have been so supportive of us," said Charles Kelly. He also thanked Rascal Flatts, The Eagles and Zac Brown Band.

The early info on Lady Antebellum's debut promised a blend of classic country harmonies, R&B soul, and '70s singer-songwriter sincerity. Those elements are thin, and they're held firmly in check by the unabashedly contemporary production. It's an album that could very easily have been totally generic.
The division of vocal duties between Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley - third band member Dave Haywood is the instrumentalist - raises it out of mediocrity. »»» |

Here it is the top 30 for 2009. This isn't authoritative in case you thought otherwise. It's just one man's opinion about his favorite CDs of the year, which seemed a cut above everything else. It was incredibly hard figuring out a number one CD for the year between the Avett Brothers, Brad Paisley and George Strait. All three were great albums from different perspectives of country and roots music, and at any one time over the past few days, each was my favorite. Come back in a few days, and who knows?
