Josh Turner becomes a father again

Tuesday, June 30, 2009 – Josh Turner and his wife Jennifer welcomed their second son, Colby Lynch Turner, to the family on Friday, June 26. The Turner's are also parents to two-year-old Hampton.

"I'm just a proud daddy right now," said Turner. "Jennifer gave birth to another healthy baby boy. Hampton loves being a big brother and we're just one big happy family."

Turner has spent the last several weeks in the studio recording his fourth album. "My producer, Frank Rogers, jokingly told Jennifer that she needed to wait until we finished my record before she had the baby," said Turner. "We finished the album last Thursday at 6 p.m. After I got home, Jennifer went into labor, and we were at the hospital by 10:30 p.m. that night. Now that's what I call perfect timing."

CD reviews for Josh Turner

Deep South CD review - Deep South
They're called "overtones" or pleasing harmonic notes that neatly accompany a main melody. People gifted with them - Josh Turner, for example - essentially have more than one great singing voice in one body. Outfitted with overtones, a good vocalist - Josh Tuner, for example - can accentuate the emotion of a song, each note an opportunity to go a step higher or lower. It's that rare combination of talents that earned Turner a 2007 invitation to the Grand Ole Opry at the »»»
Live Across America CD review - Live Across America
Josh Turner's relationship with Cracker Barrel stretches far beyond a love of chicken & dumplings and sweet tea. The country store/restaurant sponsored his 2012 tour and previously has released a live concert recorded at the Ryman Auditorium. Turner's latest release for Cracker Barrel features songs from his latest tour, recorded at 12 different stops along the way. While live releases seldom compare well to studio albums, Turner has a crack band that can match the abilities of the »»»
Punching Bag CD review - Punching Bag
Josh's Turner's fifth album for MCA Nashville, "Punching Bag" can be interpreted quite literally. It starts off with a hokey Vince McMahon ring introduction, citing Turner's height, weight and a moniker, "The Tornado of Testosterone." It is fitting for one of music's most distinct baritones. He spent two years building a writer's cottage for inspiration. Ironically, the Top 15 single Time Is Love is 1 of the 12 tracks that he did not have a hand in writing. »»»
Editorial: Walking the talk – When names like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Waylon and the Hag are invoked, you're talking hard core country. These are the touchstones of country , the guys who made country music what it was and still is (or maybe can be). When these folks would sing about being down-and-out and the rough-and-tumble, they knew of what they were singing about. Fast forward a few years to the country singers of today. »»»
Concert Review: Carlile brings thoughtfulness – Brandi Carlile returned to the GRAMMY Museum for the third time, and it's easy to see why she's always invited back. The evening began with GRAMMY Executive Scott Goldman interviewing Carlile on a pair of stuffed chairs, which was followed directly by a brief set of live songs. The interview portion was informative, while Carlile's... »»»
Concert Review: Twain thrives on eye candy visuals, music – Shania Twain TD Garden, Boston July 11, 2018 Early on during her Now Tour stop, Shania Twain uttered the oft-said lines that so many artists tell the faithful - this is a night to forget about everything else and just have a night of fun. In Twain's case, that might have been a most accurate sentiment because her show was designed with... »»»

Tyminski goes dark Dan Tyminski (known simply as "Tyminski" on his 2017 release "Southern Gothic") has traditional music roots and unassailable bluegrass street cred especially given his membership in Alison Krauss' Union Station. He is also a powerful songwriter and has been writing songs for himself and others for years now.... »»»
Washburn, Fleck create "Echoes" Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn have powerhouse individual talents; each has followed an estimable career path to where they find themselves today: making complex, but spare, records, writing music together and touring with their son Juno. Their new release, "Echoes In The Valley" features mostly songs written by Fleck and Washburn, banjos, Washburn's strong vocals and very little else.... »»»
Hillman bides his time Legends don't come any more legendary than Chris Hillman. The roll call of bands that comprises Hillman's half century in music reads like a wing exhibit at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers, Manassas, the Souther Hillman Furay Band, the Desert Rose Band,... »»»
Circus of Life CD review - Circus of Life
"Circus of Life," the title of Kinky Friedman's album, is a little misleading. It conjures up images of carnival barkers and circus freaks and songs as odd as its cigar-manufacturing, politically-astute novelist author/songwriter. The album is far more sensitive than that title suggests, though. In fact, it's a welcome respite from modern day circus-like life. »»»
Outlaws 'Til The End: Vol. 1 CD review - Outlaws 'Til The End: Vol. 1
Many mainstream country artists will point to their Southern roots as proof of their country music credentials. These roots seemingly give them liberty to stray just as far from typical country music instrumentation as they like. However, how does this rule apply to Santa Barbara, Cal.'s DevilDriver, which applies its hard-rocking groove metal chops to a set of outlaw country music? »»»
Kick Out the Twang CD review - Kick Out the Twang
The cliché goes "They live and breathe music." Consider the case of Speedbuggy front man Timbo, who led the band back from a seven year hiatus after he survived and healed from a brain aneurysm only to endure a major house fire five week before the band departed on a European tour. »»»
