Rascal Flatts works on CD cover with a little help from fans
Thursday, January 8, 2009 – With a little help from their fans, Rascal Flatts will have a new cover for their next release, "Unstoppable," which drops April 7.
The trio is collaborating with Choice to create a contest for fans to create and vote on the cover art for Rascal Flatts' sixth studio disc.
"It only makes sense to have our fans design and decide the cover of our new CD since they are the ones who make it possible every day for us to make new music and tour," says lead singer Gary LeVox. "We've got a creative and loyal group of fans and are very excited to see the designs they come back with."
Submissions will be accepted until Jan. 22 at the People's Choice website, pcaVOTE.com. On Jan. 28, the band will narrow down the selections and present their top choices to the fans who will ultimately decide which image will grace the album cover. The winning designer and image will be revealed in February.
"Today's fans want to know that when it comes to the artists they cherish, their voices are being heard and their opinions matter," said Fred Nelson, president of People's Choice. "With this contest, Rascal Flatts is acknowledging their fans' devotion by putting them in charge of a key element in the creation of their new album, and we at People's Choice are proud to help make it happen."

Unstoppable
The Rascal Flatts hit making music machinery continues as its latest is filled with a lot of commercial pop country for which the trio is known. Rascal Flatts does not move very far outside of their comfort zone. Lead singer Gary LeVox's sturdy, sometimes plaintive vocals, and well-chosen material can have that effect.

Greatest Hits Volume 1
Rascal Flatts chose the holiday season to release their first greatest hits CD. Therefore, this singles set also has three Christmas songs tacked on for good measure. And much like with Rascal Flatts' overall repertoire, this collection plays it extremely safe. The act that originally turned the emotional heat up high with I Melt (also included within) goes straight for the heartstrings for the winter longing of White Christmas and the unfulfilled attachment expressed via I'll Be Home for Christmas. »»» |

Here it is the top 30 for 2009. This isn't authoritative in case you thought otherwise. It's just one man's opinion about his favorite CDs of the year, which seemed a cut above everything else. It was incredibly hard figuring out a number one CD for the year between the Avett Brothers, Brad Paisley and George Strait. All three were great albums from different perspectives of country and roots music, and at any one time over the past few days, each was my favorite. Come back in a few days, and who knows? There are two versions of Josh Turner's fourth CD - standard and deluxe. The deluxe has the same 11 tracks as the standard, plus (among other goodies) live versions of previously released songs Long Black Train and Your Man .
