John Rich is "Raising McCain"
Thursday, July 31, 2008 – John Rich is "Raising McCain." That's the name of a song he wrote in support of presumed Republican presidential nominee John McCain. Rich will unveil the song on Friday at the Country First concert in Panama City, Fla., which McCain is expected to attend.
According to Associated Press, the song includes the lyrics, "He stayed strong, stayed extra long til they let all the other boys out. Now we've got a real man with an American plan, we're going to put him in the big White House." The refrain is "We're all just raising McCain."
Rich told AP he completed the song about a month ago and sent to McCain's daughter who forwarded it to campaign officials. "I wanted to offer him something that he didn't have, a rally song, one that really captures that maverick spirit," Rich said.
Rich previously supported the candidacy of Tenn Sen. Fred Thompson.

Big & Rich opens its second full-length CD with the sing-along line, "Somebody's got to be unafraid to lead the freak parade." It next offers up "a little bang in your yin yang," presumably to support its position as this oddball parade's grand marshal. Here it is the top 30 for 2009. This isn't authoritative in case you thought otherwise. It's just one man's opinion about his favorite CDs of the year, which seemed a cut above everything else. It was incredibly hard figuring out a number one CD for the year between the Avett Brothers, Brad Paisley and George Strait. All three were great albums from different perspectives of country and roots music, and at any one time over the past few days, each was my favorite. Come back in a few days, and who knows? There are two versions of Josh Turner's fourth CD - standard and deluxe. The deluxe has the same 11 tracks as the standard, plus (among other goodies) live versions of previously released songs Long Black Train and Your Man .
