Billy Ray Cyrus releases new single
Friday, July 11, 2008 – After big success with "Ready, Set, Don't Go," Billy Ray Cyrus is back with the new single "Somebody Said A Prayer" from an upcoming CD. The song ships to country radio on Monday.
"'Somebody Said A Prayer' is such a great song," said Cyrus. "It moved me from the first time I heard the demo. It's powerful and a great message about hope and faith. And the writers Neil Thrasher and Craig Wiseman have an amazing track record of writing songs that speak from the heart."
Produced by Mark Bright, the new CD, "Back To Tennessee," is expected to release later this year. Cyrus co-wrote two of the tracks on the new project. In addition, key writers Jeffrey Steele, Neil Thrasher, Craig Wiseman, Rivers Rutherford, Blair Daly, Troy Verges and Casey Beathard all contribute songs.
Since returning to Tennessee this summer, Cyrus has been in the studio writing and recording new music. He has also been busy filming the upcoming feature film, The Hannah Montana Movie and hosting NBC's Nashville Star.

Billy Ray Cyrus isn't the most popular member of his family these days as daughter Miley Cyrus, aka Hannah Montana, is doing a lot better with her acting and singing career. Cyrus, who goes Hollywood label wise here, can't point to these 13 songs as his creative streak to change that.

Wanna Be Your Joe
Billy Ray Cyrus wants his mullet back. He also wants Dale Earnhardt back. And Lynyrd Skynyrd. And classic country music. His latest is filled to the brim with nostalgia and longing for simpler times.

Here it is the top 30 for 2009. This isn't authoritative in case you thought otherwise. It's just one man's opinion about his favorite CDs of the year, which seemed a cut above everything else. It was incredibly hard figuring out a number one CD for the year between the Avett Brothers, Brad Paisley and George Strait. All three were great albums from different perspectives of country and roots music, and at any one time over the past few days, each was my favorite. Come back in a few days, and who knows? The deluxe has the same 11 tracks as the standard, plus (among other goodies) live versions of previously released songs Long Black Train and Your Man .
