The debut disc from the cowboy hatted Carson is a good album with a good mix of ballads and toe tappers and a good country mix of instruments behind him. That was especially true with "Yeah Buddy" and "Get a Guitar." The strongest number is the hit single "Not On Your Love." Carson has a good voice, recalling Garth Brooks. But that doesn't make one an overnight fan. Individuality is commercially unacceptable these days. You could throw these songs into a mosh pit of hot new country and never find them again. So many voices, lyrics, backgrounds, and haircuts blend together into a bland cobbler of "country" music anymore. Carson's songs are all good, but nothing sticks or grabs the heart strings. A good buy if you're a hot new country. Less attractive if you'd drive across Texas to see Ray Price.
